Controlling and maintaining your blood pressure within
the acceptable limits is extremely important. Remember, uncontrolled
high blood pressure will make you pay from all the corners. Given below
is a list of organs that can be damaged due to uncontrolled hypertension:
Bones:
Calcium is the main mineral needed
for the growth of your bones. But, high blood pressure makes you loose
calcium through urine. And this loss of calcium can lead to a condition
called osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a condition in which your bones
become so weak that they break easily. Hypertension is very dangerous
for women with menopause. It is during that period when they are at a
greater risk of fractures and other problems.
Kidneys:
Hypertension alone accounts for around one-third of
all cases of kidney failure. This itself shows how harmful hypertension
can be for your kidneys.
Eyes:
Hypertension can damage the blood vessels in your eyes,
thereby causing retina-related diseases.
Sexual drive:
Hypertension can cause sexual dysfunction in
both women and men. According to a study, women with hypertension may
experience vaginal dryness and difficulty in getting sexual
satisfaction. Believe it or not, around 17 % of men afflicted with
hypertension face some sort of sexual dysfunction.
Legs and feet:
Hypertension can also cause a condition called
peripheral vascular disease. Peripheral vascular disease can make you
experience leg pain and numbness.
The brain:
Hypertension may cause a loss of mental function in
older people and contribute to loss of short-term memory and attention.
Don't these factors give you enough reason to make sure that your blood
pressure remains under control?
