Physical examinations are very much required
for hypertension. All medical tests are recommended to prevent the
further complications that usually accompany hypertension. With the help
of the test you can monitor your blood pressure as required or as
instructed by your doctor.
There are many
reasons to undergo the physical examinations. But they are basically
performed to see if hypertension is present or you have risk factors for
heart disease or stroke, check for effects of hypertension on organs.
This is basically done to eliminate any other possible causes of
hypertension.
Your physical examination for blood pressure check
up would involve the following things:
1) Your medical history
2) Two or more blood pressure measurements following the instruction of
your doctor
3) Measurement of your height and weight.
4) Retina examination, examination of the light-sensitive lining at the
back of the eye.
5) Examination of your heart.
6) Examination of the torso, arms, and legs for fluid buildup and abdomen
using a stethoscope.
7) Examination of the neck to see if there is an enlarged thyroid,
distended neck veins, and the like.
Although physical examinations tell you if there is any trace of
hypertension and damages done to your blood vessels or other organs, yet
there are also some other exams that are required to be performed. These
tests are meant for following:
a) Eyes.
b) Heart.
c) Torso
d) Arms, and legs.
If physical examinations suggest any possibility or development of the
pre-hypertension or high blood pressure, then by following a right
treatment and by making some changes in the lifestyle it can be brought
under control. But remember in most of the cases hypertension does not
show any symptoms of its development and complications. So, be on your
guard and keep monitoring the blood pressure regularly.
