Tongkat Ali is a good herb for high blood pressure!

Tongkat Ali is one such herb found mostly in the rainforest areas of South East Asian countries such as Malaysia, Burma and Indonesia. It is a small evergreen tree that can grow to a height of 50ft. This herb is known for its multi purpose medicinal qualities and has also been hailed as one of the key herbs for controlling high blood pressure.

Let us see how this herb called Tongkat Ali and high blood pressure are related. Basically, this herb is known to give sexual powers to men lacking in adequate amount of testosterone. Countries of South East Asia have used this drug for its anti-malarial, anti-pyretic and anti-ulcer properties.

  It is also a known vasodilator and helps to improve the flow of blood in arteries and blood vessels. As a result, it is also used to treat hypertension.

Let us remember that this herb cannot be used to treat hypertension in isolation. Severe cases of chronic hypertension require the diagnosis of a medical professional. Using this herb as a mainstay of hypertension treatment is not recommended.

Tongkat Ali helps to keep the lower the level of cortisol, a steroid hormone in your body that is responsible for increasing your blood pressure.

The herb has another advantage. It reduces the level of bad cholesterol in your body and increases the good cholesterol. This helps to improve blood circulation and to reduce blood pressure.
