The complication occurs in a susceptible individual under the following grounds * If he or she remains in long upright postures like standing in a que, or sitting straight * Remaining in warm environment like hot summer, in a hot shower or bath * The attack may be prone immediately after one exercises * If a person undergoes emotional stressful events * Even there are cases of individuals getting the symptoms immediately after having meals. This happens due to the flow of blood being shifted to the intestinal circulation. The susceptibility of a person also depends on his or her genetic factor, dietary habits, acute triggering factors like allergy or infection, psychological make up etc. Medication for NHM: The ailment is treated with a combination of increased amount of water intake and salt. Along with this approach there are certain drugs that regulate the lowering of blood pressure. There are certain drugs that allow the kidneys to retain sodium, while others block the body's response to adrenaline that is most often responsible for blood pressure abnormality. Again it must be ensured that the medicines do not contain vitamins or drugs that may make the condition of hypotension worse. Some of the medicines that have been found to treat the condition of NHM are- fludrocortisone (Florinef), disopyramide (Norpace), beta-blockers (e.g., atenolol), sertraline (Zoloft), ephedrine, fluoxetine (Prozac), theophylline, pseudoephedrine, midodrine. and methylphenidate (Ritalin). |
