| Normal Blood Pressure in Children |
|
Among the need to measure blood pressure is usually based on the age, sex, and height. Blood pressure readings are generally classified by percentile values. This is the same way as weight and height are charted in relation to average percentiles. If the percentile is 89 or lower then it is regarded as normal blood pressure in children. But if the reading is higher, and falls in the range of 90 to 95, it is regarded as pre-hypertension. If the blood pressure is above 95 percentile, then it is classified as hypertension. The child should not be overweight. Try to maintain the child’s height-weight ratio in a healthy range. Maintaining a healthy diet is necessary. Meals should be rich in nutrients and not only calories. Include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in the child’s diet. Regular exercise or some kind of physical activity is recommended. |
