According to Medical guidelines, the normal blood pressure of an adult is 120/80 mm of Hg of which 120 mm Hg is the systolic pressure and 80 mm Hg is diastolic pressure. When the heart beats the pressure on the walls of the arteries the maximum, it is called systolic pressure which is normally between 100-130mm of Hg. However, when the heart rests in between, the pressure on the walls falls down and that is called diastolic pressure. The normal range of diastolic pressure is from 70-90mm of Hg. Therefore, an average normal blood pressure level is taken as 120/90mm of Hg. There are certain steps to keep the blood pressure normal. High or low blood pressure triggers a number of diseases in your body. However, maintaining a healthy lifestyle with some mild exercises, proper sleep, stress free day and limited amount of salt in food can keep your blood pressure normal. If you are suffering from high blood pressure, you needn’t panic as the pressure tends to fluctuate a little bit due to stress or nervousness. One such situation is called “white coat syndrome”, a situation when the BP increases in a doctor’s clinic due to nervousness. Just calm down and recheck your BP after half an hour. |
