In case women are diagnosed with high blood pressure, they need to look after their health. In case a woman is pregnant, then she should take extra care of her health as high blood pressure may have an adverse effect on the unborn child. High blood pressure is significantly more of a problem during the last trimester. If high blood pressure lasts through the third trimester, then there are always chances of a difficult or problematic delivery. In order to manage and control the disease over a period of time, you need to make changes in your lifestyle. Usage of birth control pills is linked with incidence of high blood pressure amongst women. Women who smoke and take birth control pills are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure than women who just smoke or use oral contraceptives. If you are a woman, you should check with your doctor before taking contraceptive pills. Women who have crossed menopause may have a greater chance of suffering from hypertension. Age is another important factor as women who cross the age of 50 are also more likely to suffer from menopause. The African-American population is more likely to suffer from high blood pressure than other races. Women of African-American origin are also more likely to suffer from high blood pressure. A balanced lifestyle, a fat free diet and exercise will help to reduce high blood pressure in women. Working women need to control their stress levels as stress also plays an important role in causing hypertension. |
