Signs of High Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is the force that the heart has to exert in order to pump blood through the arteries. If the heart faces resistance in pumping blood, it has to work harder to pump blood. This condition is known as high blood pressure.

Some of the symptoms of high blood pressure are dizzy spells, blurred vision, headache and nausea.

The only way to determine if you are suffering from high blood pressure is to have your blood pressure checked by using a sphygmomanometer. There are a number of portable blood pressure measuring devices that can be used at home to determine if your blood pressure is too high.

People often do not seek medical care until they have symptoms arising from the organ damage caused by chronic high blood pressure. If left untreated, high blood pressure can result in coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke, and kidney failure and eye damage.
