Hypertension Treatment

Acupuncture and high blood pressure

Acupuncture is an age old practice of Chinese tradition and origin which treats various diseases by puncturing your body with needles at certain points. The art of acupuncture is very tough to master and it needs an expert hand to carry the puncturing process for various diseases. Hypertension too has been treated by acupuncture.

Acupuncture is a holistic healing approach and is very effective in healing high blood pressure. The results of treating high blood pressure with acupuncture are quite satisfactory. Acupuncture is the art of finding lobes or areas related to the disease in your body and then treating the ailment by stimulating the area or the nerves attached to it.

The areas for high blood pressure treatment using acupuncture are- Gb 20, Li 11, Ht 3, St 36, Lv 3 and Kd 1. You may find it a bit difficult to understand these points but a practitioner will easily understand the areas of your body named after such points and would insert needles for treatment. These are points in the neck, knees, arm joints, leg palm and others.

Acupuncture thus has an accepted form of treatment for hypertension patients. But those people whose blood pressures have increased more than 200/100 are forbidden to take the acupuncture treatment. The treatment is strictly speaking, denied to such patients.

This is primarily because the body may respond very differently to acupuncture treatment when the patient is in this condition and may land up in greater trouble by having a heart attack or very fatal stroke.

Acupuncture and high blood pressure have better results if they are accompanied by electric stimulations. The electric stimulation provided is of low intensity and they help in lowering your blood pressure more effectively in acupuncture treatment.

The acupuncture synthesizes the brain cells to release neurotransmitters that help to keep the health of the heart intact.  The needles inserted in the positions of knees, wrist, arm, neck and other positions excite the opioid chemicals in the brain for a better cardiovascular health thus ensuring better blood flow through the vessels.
